Misty Copeland is a soloist with the American Ballet Theater and she started ballet when she was 13 :) Martha Graham didn’t start until her teens also. Anything is possible! But it is correct that the overwhelming majority of professional dancers start ballet at a very young age and past a certain point it isn’t realistic to become a professional. But just because someone doesn’t become a paid professional doesn’t mean that they aren’t good dancers :) It’s about your love for it and challenging yourself and the many physical and mental benefits that ballet can offer people of all ages. It’s never too late to start something that you want to do. I hope you consider this! Best of luck.
As a dancer? Not really. She is way overrated and exhibits no passion or artistry when she dances a role- something a true ballerina has. She’s just blinded everyone with her 180 degree développés and amazingly arched feet. Ballet is about much more than that!
One, two, three or four?
NEVER. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise :) It’s wonderful for the mind, body and spirit no matter what point in life you discover it.
